Whiskerino 2009

Scrivener

will not fail Whiskerino.

Atop Sugar Mountain, NC. It's a magical place, where the handouts grow on bushes and you sleep out every night. Where the boxcars all are empty and the sun shines every day and the birds and the bees and the cigarette trees, the lemonade springs where the bluebird sings.

@KimJongIllness We just skied the one day--drove up to Asheville last night, stayed in a motel, drove the rest of the way this morning, skied for the day, then drove home. My day started at 6 am, and I just got home, and in between I skied for 6 hours by myself and then for another hour while holding my 7 year old up following my 8 year old down the mountain. And then dealt with the tantrum when it was time to leave, and the insane bickering between the two kids while driving home just because they were both totally exhausted after the day skiing. All of which is to say, I don't think I could handle even a run down the bunny slope for you at the moment.

@hale I wanna live in the place where they hung the jerk who invented work. Will you move there with me?

your caption is magical and the description of your trip sounds somewhat relaxing and somewhat insanely chaotic.

@Scrivener cool, how was the snow? I go to Sugar and Beech quite a bit during the winter but wasn't sure if the snow was any good yet.

@Robozo It was the best snow I've seen at Sugar, but I've only been there 3 times. They got about 18 inches of snow 10 days ago, which helped a lot I think.

@c dub It takes almost exactly 5 hours to get there. It's nowhere near as good skiing as in Colorado, but it's a helluva lot cheaper to take the kids to Sugar Mtn.

@mackle I wouldn't say it was the most relaxing trip I've ever taken, but it was a whole lotta fun. All of the difficulty with the kids was just in the late afternoon because they were really wiped out.
