Theme week: Back to School, Day 1.

Every building is sweltering, but I dressed for the cold outside. It's miserable.
Also, I got a parking ticket, because they're ticketing on the very first day of the semester. Oh, University of Arkansas, how I've missed you. The sweet smell of shit from the Agri buildings, the hobos pissing on the seats of the bus, the surprise fees and overpriced tuition. University of Arkansas, it better be worth it.

My only class today was in the basement of the Agriculture building, but the basement is devoted to soil science, so it just smells like dirt.

folliclejuju says:: i totally know what you mean about people overusing air conditioner and heating systems. it's really not healthy for us or for the environment. what people don't realize is that if they get conditioned to be the opposite of the weather outside that it makes it worse. in korea, one of the most interesting cultural differences for me was drinking WARM water from the heated water cooler...in the summer! they do it cause it helps your internal conditioning system. ice cold water just puts you in shock even if it feels like it's cooling you down (which is what it is doing). now that i've nearly typed a book, i suddenly realize that i have absolutely no idea what i'm talking about and that there is a 3 in 4 chance that i'm either wrong or writing in the wrong language - or writing the wrong in answer in the wrong language is also a distinct possibility. well...maybe.

@folliclejuju, and @thatguy: I'm right there with you. Becoming acclimated to your local temperature is the way to go. I wear shorts through most of the winter, and I don't get cold; I rely on what scientists call "homeostasis" to keep my body temperature where it needs to be. That being said, I hate to sweat, so I'm guilty of running the air conditioner in the summer. I'll need to try that warm water trick, though.

@wondermade: If everything goes according to plan, in about a year. Then, I've got graduate school to figure out.

Yogi Beard says:: In regard to the temperature control thing - I made it a point to not use my air conditioner this past summer. Mainly because it's loud, a pain in the ass to put in, and I only have one window, so if it is actually cool outside, I have to run the AC anyway because I can't even use the window. It sucked at times, but with my ceiling fan constantly on and the shades drawn during the day, I made it through the entire summer without AC.

Also, what's you major?
