I want to sing that rock and roll.
I want to 'lectrify my soul,
'Cause everybody been making a shout
So big and loud, been drowning me out.
I want to sing that rock and roll.

(Like most other people in the world, money has been real tight this year, and because of this I have not been able to keep up with much of the music releases of 2009. If you fine bearded gentlemen don’t mind, I would greatly appreciate it if you could include in any comments on this picture, your top 2 or 3 favorite releases this year. I truly listen to all types of music from Jazz to Metal and I will seriously be writing these suggestions down and hunting them out as I hope to clear these rough financial waters in the coming months. Thank you in advance.)

Thank you soooo much for your help. I will seriously be looking these records up during the rest of whiskerino and beyond. I've heard a few of these bands and/or records but there is a lot of stuff in here that I have not. That is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you all again.

@mathy you rock
@keifel I would still love to know what older stuff you've been listening to. I suspect that you have sick taste in music. (sick = good)
@NedKelly usually I find something I want to hear while looking for the thing that I THOUGHT I wanted to hear. It's a good thing.

I'll recommend Zac Brown Band, they've had 3 #1 hits this year. Then again, I notice your musical tastes don't include genres that begin with C, so you may not be interested in this.

my cds are all at my parents house. I hope to move them back to Boston in my next apartment...

new music, eh? I'm a little out of the loop, myself. I've spent the past few weeks catching up on the more recent releases of the Chili Peppers, Jimmy Eat World, Pearl Jam, The Killers, and the Beatles remasters. I don't know much about 2009 releases at the moment, but the Protomen put out something this year that I want to check out...

Impressive. I would hate to have to move all that!
I enjoyed much of Jakob Dylan's "Seeing Things" Album

@fofe, I've actually moved it (granted a little smaller) to colorado and back, and three times since. It sucks, but it's worth it. I love having the actual product in my hand. I love my ipod, but if all goes south, I still have the music.

I second Regina's 'Far.' And all of her preceding albums.
Sherree Chamberlain: 'The Wasp in the Room.' She is from Oklahoma City and is amazing.
A Fine Frenzy: A Bomb in a Birdcage
I know you are wanting newer releases, but here are some of my favorites from other years:
Thrice: Alchemy Indexes (esp. Air, Water, and Earth) 2008
Ben Folds: Rockin' The Suburbs (2001) and Songs for Silverman (2005)
Feist: The Reminder (2007)
Nickel Creek: Self Titled (2000) and This Side (2002) and heck, Why Should the Fire Die (2005) is pretty good too.

There are of course others, but that's all I'll throw out there for now.

Picked up Grace Potter's latest early this year and have had it on constant rotation, also Matthew Mayfield's EP is some fine songwriting, and needtobreathe has put out their best work to date in september
