Day 1 of a new hobby. BEEKEEPING.
I'm going into this totally ignorant with just some used equipment and a little booklet on how to get started.

Step 1: Get a bee suit... CHECK
Step 2: Clean the equipment... CHECK

I sure hope I'm doing this right.

Um, just be sure that the bees don't dwell in your beard. Beards and bees don't mix. HA! I just LOL'd at myself.

My grandfather was a bee keeper and I lived with him for part of my childhood. I remember getting lots of bee stings growing up. I also remember helping him clean the frames and replace them with new wax. He had some old dull case knives that were perfect for scraping the old wax out of the frames. I loved doing this and would do it with him all day. Robbing the hives and cutting down swarms on branches were not my cup of tea. I loved the smell of the smoker with pine needles in it and I loved his bee hat. Good luck with this new hobby. I will enjoy hearing updates from your from time to time and feeling nostalgia for times long past.

Oh and his beekeeper suit looked nothing like yours. Not that there's anything wrong with yours. It's pretty sassy.
