Ozzy Nelson says:
This weekend I am going to do an American Rye Ale. I love Terrapin's Rye Ale.
So, there was quite a bit of talk about liquid vs dry yeast. The concesnsus seemed to be that dry was just as good. One of our instructors, Matt Bryndildson of Firestone Walker said they are brewing with dry yeast and the results have been good. If I recall, I think they said the dry yeast may be more viable for more generations than liquid, don't quote me on that tho. It may have been ale vs lager yeast. Everyone seemed to like Nottingham by Danstar brand of dry. I'm only on my 3rd batch of some Wyeast American Ale yeast. I will probably harvest that out another 10 generations before I move to the nottingham.
