Last Minute Team Run Tribute

Photo is Me From the JFK 50 Mile Run I Did a Couple Years Ago

50 miles?!

That's incredible. I read in the NYTimes once that a man could outrun a horse during the winter over a marathon's distance. I would which creature would win in a 50-mile race.

first 50 miler in the US right? how did you train for this? i've been wanting to do ultras lately, but i'm not sure how the training is different than for marathons.

FIFTY MILES? Are you serious? I would die. Not a joke. I would drop dead and rot on the path.

Robozo says:
@Sir Walshington - Yep, oldest in US. Next year is the 50th anniversary I think. Planning to do it again that year. I didn't train like you are suppose to. I basically trained for a marathon, got sick, and then ran this without having run at all for a month. It took me 11:45..and that's not minutes. Proper training would be running two long runs two days in a row. That way you build the mileage but have some rest time in. Beyond do that, it's just lots of long runs (20+ miles).

Thanks everyone. This run was really tough but unbelievably rewarding to finish.

@mackle - nothing can beat the santa suit.
