(I'm taking a cue from @mOtke and starting the long goodbye today.)

In November of 2007, I was in a very different place. I was stuck in a crappy job at a crappy company generally hating life. I was however fortunate enough to work briefly with @trey who turned me on to Whiskerino before he retreated to Nashville.

Here I found an outlet and a catalyst for my creative enterprises. I dove in with purpose and dedication, much to the displeasure of my beautiful wife.

I created the Whiskerbears for you, the Whiskerneros. And took photos with them almost every day. Then you started buying them! Selling these little guys showed me that I could possibly, maybe, conceivably make a living selling my art.

That felt good.

This year I'm in a different place. A better place. I'm working for myself. My lovely, amazing, beautiful wife is managing our art business (I really do love working with her. She fills in all the gaps I leave in running a business, and I leave a lot of gaps). We have a wonderful little dog to love and care for. And we seem to be just crazy busy all the time.

So I haven't participated as heavily as last time. I regret that. But going to the final Throwdown and meeting all you nerds made me very happy. I look forward to what we can accomplish as a community and as friends.

p.s. Yes, Rachel, these are the new ones and I've photographed them. They'll be up on my Etsy shop today or tomorrow, I promise.

Very nice to hear your journey and glad to hear things are going well. I wasn't able to participate as much for some of the same reasons. i don't mind not posting pics everyday, but the commenting and interaction is definitely a place i wish i wouldn't have had to sacrifice. Much goodness to you and your wife. May the business continue for as long as you welcome it : )

Thanks for that story man. I have one of those jobs with ABSOLUTELY ZERO creative appreciation or need. And I really appreciate this site for what it allows me to do...to create something every day. Is it "art" every day? Not really. But it is creative and I love it. It's a hot 100 miles better than sitting around watching tv. That I know. I'm going to be tied up a lot of the weekend, so if I don't get back to you (and I hope i do), I'll tell you now that It has been a pleasure checking out your shots everyday, and I really loved the Bread series. Cheers Good Sir.

I love how this simple website changes lives or influences, even if in a small way, the lives of those involved.

I'm very glad that our worlds collided. I look forward to future conversations, collaborations, art swaps, and any other things that could make our universes be near each other.
