Day 2: The Basics
Today I teach you the basics of performing the pose known to many as "The Mackle." Please review yesterday's lecture if confused.

For reference today please refer to Figure 6C. As you can see, @Damnweather is demonstrating the correct positioning of legs, hands, and head.

I. Act like you are going to propose marriage to someone by getting down on one knee, but halfway down, STOP in mid-squat. Have your dominant leg jutting forward, and your other leg behind you. Your ankles will bear much of the strain for this pose.

II. Put your hands in your pockets. Preferably hoodie pockets.

III. Face sideways and look at the camera!

With your help, I can do this. Thank you, Noelix and @damnweather!

Could you go over camera position? At what point is it NOT "the mackle" if the camera angle is a little off? If your dominant foot is actually pointing at the camera, is that incorrect, or an acceptable variation?

Noelix says:
@shularbrau: Honestly you just need to feel "The Mackle". Show us an example of some variations and let the audience decide if it's legit or not :-)

Grower&Shower says:
I assume one would have to wear loose-fitting pants in order to pull off "The Mackle" without an embarrassing ripped crotch incident.

Also, one really should stretch before attempting this maneuver, right?

When can we have the @Mackle theme day?
Posted: Dec 9th, 2009 - 2:22pm -
Noelix says:
@growershower: Being limber is an advantage, for sure. I wouldn't wear anything you have trouble bending down in, so your pants should be comfortable, not skin tight.
