At long last, he had found it.

Up until that moment, it was as though he was looking through a dusty window pane: the past was something he could see, but not touch. And everything he saw was blurred and indistinct.

He stood there, stunned in this moment of clarity, as the world around him stood still. Memories came flooding back, moments he thought lost forever.

It was as if he’d boarded a very long train heading for a drowsy future through the unfathomable night. And as he held in his hands the heart he had once heaved into his mouth, he could hear the train behind him, rumbling on further into the darkness.

He could feel the energy coming back to him once more. He could feel the rush of thought, the clarity of mind, the purpose of soul once more. The world around him rushed back into motion. He was falling, his knees giving out from the shock, the joy, of being completed again. He breathed his first full breath in years.

Plans were being formed. A new force would rise; one that would galvanize, one that would apprise them all of their worth.

It felt as if his veins were filled with gasoline. And with this spark, this bit of flint and tinder which he now held in his hands, he knew it would be the biggest fire they'd ever seen.
