i had a roommate in college who assessed the value of objects by the amount of beer you could pour in them. dictionaries received few points on that particular scale. he did not graduate.

@mattyc, we haven't actually bought a dictionary of late, although an oxford subscription seems tempting.

@ewagoner, some of the books in my house would make some people's heads explode.

@mu, there are book shelves filled with books in the living room and all three bedrooms. no books in the kitchen or dining room except when they're in use and water's bad for most books so none in the bathroom.
