His head was kind of shiny. The glowing came from a small machine in his head that would flash logos whenever he got afraid. Like when he jumped out of jets or ate bad fish or was being chased by cougars or didn't finish his homework on time. Sometimes, when really afraid, a Batman emblem would appear. Those were the best times.
