@justjamey, melatonin honestly does nothing for me, no matter the dosage. i used to have bad insomnia for years and years, and the only thing that would cure it was prescription meds (and even those didn't do a great job). it seems, as of late, that old pattern of insomnia has decided to return. i'm hoping it won't stay long.

i've hear that you shouldn't worry about sleeplessness, that it causes a spiral of worsening. it's a hard thing for me to do, honestly, or not do as it were. have you tried reading? i've got a computer security book that always does it for me.

you still doing cardio like a madman? my brother was doing a contest prep phase and after he bailed on the contest he couldn't sleep unless he ran 5+ miles every day. weird but it helped him sleep.

@andrew, i'm glad you brought that to my attention. i usually weight train during the week and do cardio sessions on the weekend, but i didn't do my usual cardio this weekend and that's when my insomnia seemed to start. interesting. i didn't even take that into consideration.

when is your last caffine intake? i have heard from various people including doctor people whose names i cant remember that any coffee past 3 can affect your sleep. 3pm i mean but i guess also 3 am.

@chaddo, i haven't been up for that long... i'm just not able to get more than like 3 hours of sleep a night at the moment. it's not bad to the point where i'm up for 40 hours straight (i know how that is... i'm glad that's not happening right now)

I like to think of nights of sleepnessness as my brain's way of telling me something that needs to come out; as another suggestion on a page of good one's I'd suggest writing or sketching whenever you can't sleep. Sometimes emotion can release through creativity in the wee hours and provide peace and rest.
