Sorry, kids. This is one theme I cannot willingly adhere to. I have never and will never give high fives --
Period. My moniker speaks truth.

I love you all.

9schwander says:
a little sad. But then I feel like we all should know better than to get mad at you, given that your moniker has warned us this sort of behavior might surface.

But what about pounding it? You'd fist pump my baby if he were next to you... I know you would...

Due to:
1. Your wino persona

4. The kick ass quotient on this picture
5. Your stellar beard

I do not mind at all.

You've never given a high-five?! That's like when @Laura told me she'd never eaten a burrito. That's so hard to believe!

...but this is the WHO sanctioned version of the high five (no bodily contact)
Posted: Dec 9th, 2009 - 3:35pm -
Johnny Rebellious says:
@mattyc, just like your friend David, I don't pound it either. I'm opposed to high fives and fist bumps... completely unnatural for me. I'm too oldschool. A standard business handshake will do for me -- or a warrior-like forearm clasping handshake... or a head nod. No high fives. Ever. They make me vomit in my mouth.
Posted: Dec 9th, 2009 - 4:16pm -
Johnny Rebellious says:
@Katie, I do a couple of things when people raise their hand expecting my hand to greet theirs in midair: I'll either (a) simply tell them I don't do high fives or (b) I put my hand low for them to change their high 5 into a low 5. I usually choose option B in order not to make them feel awkward... after a couple times doing this, people come to the realization that I don't do high fives.
Posted: Dec 9th, 2009 - 4:21pm -
Johnny Rebellious says:
@tedford and @mackle, I most certainly do low fives. I'm giving you both imaginary low fives right now, if you'll accept them.
Posted: Dec 9th, 2009 - 4:23pm -
Johnny Rebellious says:
@9schwander, I'm not too partial to fist bumps either, but if your adorable baby boy found amusement in me pounding his fist(s), I would GLADLY do that all day long just to see him smile a joyous smile.
Posted: Dec 9th, 2009 - 4:28pm -
Frog says:
Low fives are an acceptable substitute to high fives.
Posted: Dec 9th, 2009 - 4:29pm -
Johnny Rebellious says:
@Pip, it's not that I've never given a high five -- I have a few times here and there throughout my life in response to other people putting their hand in the air waiting for slap of the skin. However, they feel unnatural to me. I'm too oldschool. A standard business handshake will do for me -- or a warrior-like forearm clasping handshake... or a head nod. No high fives. Ever. They make me feel dirty and make me want to vomit in my mouth.

I on the other hand LOVE high fives. I really do - I dispense them freely and if we lived nearby one other rest assured I'd constantly seek them from you.

Posted: Dec 9th, 2009 - 11:07pm -
Pip says:
That's cool. I had a group of friends in college who were into the warrior forearm handshake for a pretty long time. Probably the manliest way to greet someone.
Posted: Dec 10th, 2009 - 6:48am -
Johnny Rebellious says:
Hahahahaha @Xjdunn, you speak the truth!
Posted: Dec 10th, 2009 - 8:59am -
Johnny Rebellious says:
@Wondermade, if we did live near one another, I have a feeling I would end up giving you a high 5 willingly and joyfully, just by seeing how happy it makes you.

Posted: Dec 10th, 2009 - 3:39pm -

How the fuck did I miss this originally? I agree by the way. They do feel very silly. @timcredible and I made up a silly high-five we do when playing disc golf, but I'm pretty sure we both know that it's silly.
Posted: Jan 29th, 2010 - 7:47am -
Johnny Rebellious says:
@thatguy, I don't know... how DID you miss this? This is the picture that my blatant rebellion spawned. And it all started with a RED WALL.

seriously though... with all your commenting, I have no clue how you passed this up.
Posted: Jan 29th, 2010 - 2:31pm -
ThatGuy says:
@johnnyrebellious. Honestly, if i get caught up on a day, I'll just go look around to find what I missed. I love this site, and I'm going to see as much of it as possible...and comment on it to. I created the phrase "Latefaved"
