I knew this was coming. I could smell it in the air. I could see it in the writing in the snow. I talked to a bird yesterday who told me that this could maybe be happening, but the bird was actually a flying bee that was painted like a bird and he knew (or she?) that you were going to do this.

I actually knew you were going to do this 3 years ago.

I'll be your tour guide.

really? here's a word for you:
moustashame: (n). he ain't got no mustache!
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 5:47am -
flainez says:
I'm confused; some part of me is really into the "hobo concept"... and that part is crying "moustashame!!!" (thanks @shularbrau for the word)

But there is another part that is just appreciating the beard as it is and that part is saying "awesome!!!"

I think the second one is winning, so, awesome!!!

WHAT?! NO! You had a great moustache!

(looks like Abe approves)

Brian says:
You are one of my favorite participants ... but ... SHAME. This is much worse than trimming the neckbeard (which I also think is shameful). I personally think this is an offense worthy of the Hall of Shame, but that is @mackle 's call.

You destroyed the crown of your beard! SHAME! SHAME!! SHAME!!!

shularbrau says:
I did not mean to turn the mob on you. It does look good.
I think in return for Moustashame, I'd like to see you, in full Lincoln outfit, in a phone booth with the rest of the characters from bill & ted's excellent adventure. That would make up for it.

@gavin is right. I've been battling a cold for the last 4 days and it can get messy. Nice Lincoln, and I'm guessing that is Lil' Abraham just to your right there. He's pretty cool to. Not sure what he's up to though.

SoulGlo1976 says:
Ew, a "snotstache" @thatguy? Eh, stuff happens. Should somebody start a Team Snotstache? :)

Hey the only reason why I kept my stache was because you told me you keep yours for 'rino. Sadness.

I approve. Nothing is appealing about a mustache full of snot, especially if you're at work.

Mine's getting gnarly. Like a brier.

but it works for me.
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 8:42am -
benfrank says:
@Brian is SO right. while you and @blackbeard are awesome people and you always bring awesomeness, this is depressingly sad and worthy of shame.

Just Jamey says:
This is full of SHAMENESS. Shame, shame, shamefulness. If I did this, I'd change my name to Just Shamey. It's a good thing you are awesome, and you did not tamper with the rest of the beard.
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 9:00am -
alijoon says:
Also, this is one of those games. But I forgot what you call them.

hmmm. besides the obvious thing to comment on, your son is adorable; however, he appears to be suffering from a mild nintendo-thumb. just switch him to wii for few days and call the office next week if things don't look better.
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 9:15am -
mackle says:
Wow! You really know how to upset the masses!!

For the record, @brian, this is not a Hall of Shame move. I have personally witnessed the jnon Lincoln beard in its full glory and it's a BEARD - no doubt about it. It just happens to be missing the moustache.

I will say this - I really thought you'd go the distance this time around with the full moustache. I'm a bit bummed that you didn't keep it but I'm HOPING (fingers seriously crossed) that this is a one time Abraham Reset and you let it go again for the next 60 days. I don't know why you hate the moustache so much but use this to push you into having it!
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 9:25am -
Brian says:
I can't believe I missed that @blackbeard shaved his stashe too. SHAME!

@benfrank spoke the truth when he said you are both awesome people ... I couldn't agree more.

I know it is @mackle's call, and I respect that BUT I still think it's shameful and will delight in dealing out poison against these anti-hobos!!

In my mind this is SHAMEful.

Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 9:43am -
mackle says:
@brian, There's a difference between being Shameful and being worthy of the Hall of Shame. Yes, it is a shame that the mustache has been shaved. Super bummer. But, with 411 people participating - having less than 10 of them be on Team Lincoln doesn't really seem like we're losing sight of Whiskerino. Obviously @jnonfiction is VERY into Whiskerino - he brings great things to us on a regular basis. Forgive him this trangression - I think he's worth it.
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 9:51am -
jnonfiction says:
I figure it this way: this is my only chance ever again to participate in The Whiskerino on Team Lincoln. If I don't try it now, I can never try it again.

It's not hurting my marriage any, either.

hahah.. excellent point there sir.

Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 10:20am -
9schwander says:
@jnonfiction.... the marriage point is most excellent. Those mustache hairs can really get in the way. I admit I trimmed mine up just a teensy bit to make the kisses a little less painful for the mrs.
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 10:29am -
GrapeS says:
wow mad drama on this picture, hope you dont reshave the 'stache as mackle seems to hope this is a 1 time transgression and im sure there are plenty that dont want you shamed.

other than that nice lincoln.
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 10:32am -
Matty O says:
I think my wife is actively lobbying for such things. She wouldn't kiss me very much yesterday claiming that my 'stache was just too long.

I think I'll hold out a little more.

You look nice, by the way. Distinguished.

I'm tempted to do that myself. It's no fun getting food in the whiskers.
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 1:54pm -
O-Train says:
I think this is great. In fact, I think it takes considerably more machismo to pull of the "Lincoln" than a simple "hobo".

The Bandito says:
Rocking the Lincoln. Good man.
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 2:03pm -
Johnny Rebellious says:
Don't listen to the negative comments. I think you look good both ways, and in fact, being sans moustache gives you a very antique look that few people are able to pull off. Keep rockin' that Lincoln -- I think it's great!

Dschonn says:
I dislike this turn of events. I agree with @Mackle, in that it is a shameful move, but not a Hall-of-Shame-worthy move, but I really truly believe that the oberlippenbart is essential to the integration of the beard and the rest of the face.

You do look more unusual and unique now (that's a good thing), but I miss the moustache.

Daniel Wilkerson says:
Beards: I'm for them!
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 8:24pm -

@dschonn for friends of @jnonfiction he looks more unique with a moustache because the Lincoln is his *normal* look.

Furricane says:
i cried a little in my heart.

still, not bad. not bad.
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 8:59pm -
blackbeard says:
@jnonfiction and @everyone else - i just read that the reason Lincoln grew a beard was because an 11 year old little girl wrote him a letter saying that more people would vote for him if he had a beard.

Ironic that on this site it causes some to lose the popular vote.

clame for fun with Lincoln beard styles.
Posted: Jan 2nd, 2010 - 9:26pm -
zackle says:
I'm still laughing at @mackle's comment. Can we get "Abraham Reset" added to the lexicon.

I've got no beef whatsoever with the Lincoln. In my perfect world, you would be doing this in exchange for participation in Moustache May. But for now I'll take all the jnon I can get and be happy with it.

Haters gonna hate. Just ignore 'em.

Hugs,
@zackle
