@tedford @cab @slogro doubt i'd actually paint, but have to at least get some rust off...a friend is supposed to help get it riding again i.e help with new tires, chain, and such.

don't hipsterize it. can't tell what it is though, paint is a bit rough and i can't make out the headbadge. a 3 speed Free Spirit?

sweet, i am working on cleaning up a 3 speed Free Spirit Sheffield right now. it won't stay in the highest gear, but keeps slipping out. i've not serviced a 3speed hub before, so it will be a good learning experience. it's an ok bike, nothing high end, but fun to ride.

free is the best deal possible. you can paint it dayglo neon, i personally prefer the classic look, fenders, rack and all that. in the end, doesn't matter what it looks like as long as you have fun riding it.

@wiseacre We should visit the Happy Castle Castle again sometime. You remember when the ants there ate all the chips and you had to scramble some eggs in that make shift pan that you found? Remember that? Ah, the Happy Castle Castle. What great memories.

@jason - I like the bike, but it's a little, well, you know, not colorful. When riding a bike around the city, you should have at least 19 colors on your bike. Some states require that now by law.

seriously nice shot! Hey just noticed you are from Fort Worth! Went to school at TCU 'bout 10 years ago. Friend of mine, Brian Kieta still lives there. I am sure you know him, Fort Worth is such a small town :-)

jason says:
@motke i guess you would vote for the dayglo paint then?

@mu i attended tcu from 99-03 maybe i ran into brian.

@hale i'm pretty sure the 3speed hub won't work correctly either, but i won't know for sure til i get the new tires/chain combo accomplished. the friend i know who fixes up old bikes often said he knows how to work on everything though. hopefully i can get it running soon. til then, i'll stick with my trek.
