mark helped me remove our kitchen. we paid the previous tenant 500 for it and we sold it on ebay for 810. mark is much taller than he appears.

german apartments usually don't come with a kitchen. you either put one in yourself or buy it off whoever was living there before. that is, if they aren't taking it with them to wherever they are moving.

our new place has a kitchen in it already. we paid 200 for it.

complicated, eh?

Germany needs to rethink their kitchen policies. If everybody just left their kitchens behind, there would be so much less fuel wasted on moving kitchens all over the place!

REVOLT!

@markymadbeard--some people just leave theirs on the street too when they move out. lots of junkpiles too.

second hand kitchens are pretty common on ebay here. deal is usually you have to come get it yourself.

i think it will take an enlightened generation of landlords to change things. not all of germany does it this way. i've heard berlin and hamburg and some other areas do things the right way.

the kitchen had been in since 1996 so you can imagine how gross it was up under there.

MarkyMadBeard says:
Oh man. It sounds like such a huge, collective waste of human energy. But I guess changing the kitchen every time you move is just one of a million different ways that we as a people are absurd...

And I can imagine! I guess that's one good reason for moving the kitchen...to get that deep-cleaning done!

herr neas says:
yeah, it only benefits people who sell or install kitchens.

i forgot to mention that you have to put in your own light fixtures as well.

I was going to say I don't remember anything like that happening, but I was in Berlin, where they do things the right way.

By the way, it looks like you at least came out ahead on the kitchen deal.

I'm going to start buying houses and selling them as parts.

Your little lady in pregnant?
Well can I interest you in an additional bedroom for a very reasonable price?
Maybe a half-bath to go with it?"

It will be nice to be back in Dusseldorf! Miss ya there big guy.
