dear ryan,

i hope this doesn't change things between us. but i'm not 100 percent on board with this whole cat thing. while i have interfaced with many cats in my life. i've only had one live with us full time and all it wanted to do was inflict pain. all the time. always. he died. from natural causes. but he left a lot of scars. a lot. his name was Lewis.

my kids found a cat last easter. we feed him twice a day. and he sleeps in my kitchen sometimes. but he mostly wants to be outside. he's good with the kids and when i pet him, he doesn't try to make me bleed. so far things are alright.

if i get a picture with him tomorrow. it's only because you say that feline's are alright.

love,
gavin

73 degrees is cold? I don't switch to long pants 'til it hits the thirties.

Wait. You said "today". And obviously, it's "tonight" in the picture. So, disregard that.

dear @gavin,

i appreciate your honesty, and let me put your worries to rest. we don't always have to like the same things, and i celebrate our differences as much as our commonalities. it is ok that you are not a full cat supporter, my love for you remains as strong as ever.

with the greatest affection,

ryan

ps, it does help if you dislike @mattyc.

mims attack says:
nice pic, as always. about the camera obscura: Aperture was an educated guess, as was exposure. I made the aperture out of a piece of 1/8" sintra plastic I had around, drilled a .5" hole in it. So it was pretty big actually (after 5 minutes in the dark, you could see a dim, but clear, image on the wall with your eyes). Exposure was guessed at completely. I think anything between 2 and 8 minutes would have sufficed. If you notice on the left side of the frame, there is ambient light where I ran out/into the room.. I couldn't block out ambient light from the hallway. Aperture could benefit from a thinner material, sheet metal possibly. Even better to have a 1/16 aperture, but exposure times would go to hours (digital camera wouldn't take kindly to that). I mounted the aperture to high on my window, I need to shift it down 2' to get more of me on the wall. I have something fun planned for old camera day.
