I collect religious literature.

Given my location, the Christian brand of stuff is a dime a dozen; by percentage, the bulk of my collection is probably the year or two of Awake and Watchtower magazines (from a wonderfully kind couple of Jehovah's Witnesses who frequent the Iron Horse). Anyway, the Holy Grail of my collection would be my Chick tracts, a sample of which is seen here. I collected these the old fashioned way, by picking them up where the tracters left them.

I was raised Baptist in central Arkansas; I, by no means, hold the same convictions I did as a child, but religion in general has continued to fascinate me.

My uncle told me a pretty good joke once:

Q - What is a Jehovah Witness' favorite Jimi Hendrix song?
A - Handing out The Watchtower

It's just really funny to me because I didn't know you were suppose to believe everything anyone on the street that you don't know tells you.

@growershower: I'd been doing the regular literature for a while, and when I saw my first Chick tract, it just kinda clicked.

@yogibeard: That is a pretty awesome joke.

@mimsattack: I've read that one! My favorite scene is from my first one, which featured children drenched in cross-blood.

@mynameisjason and @katie: Yes, yes they are.

@emsiizilla: You're not lookin' so bad yourself. I swear the same person takes your photos or somethin'.

@edwardteach: I hear ya.

@mattyc: Haha... that's awesome. I have one called "Gomez is Coming", where this gangsta pisses off another gangsta who is a lot bigger than him (actually, by "pisses off", I mean "shoots his younger brother to death"); the rest of the tract, Gomez is tracking this dude down, and when he finally catches him, he just shares the gospel.

@hale: The idea of Christian street gangs protecting their turf deserves to be turned into a movie or something.

@everyone: Some of this comes across as a little negative, but I'm not trying to upset anyone. I think we can all agree the tracts are pretty extreme, no matter what your religious persuasion.

@hale and @gragaband, I have strange memories of grade school watching a movie called The Cross and the Switchblade. It had 2 gangs called the Bishops and the Mau Maus. "we got blades, chains.."
