Phil says:
The legend of the Whiskerpus:

Though no fossil record exists and no specimen live or dead has been observed by modern science, eyewitness reports and photographic evidence suggest that there may be an elusive, sea-dwelling relative of the whiskerbear: the whiskerpus (provisional classification: gerobarbae plurapedis).

The most common sightings occur during a breaching, when the whiskerpus is seen in pursuit (whether playful or predatory is unknown) of squid, seals, and aquatic birds. The creatures apparently bear some vocalization ability. One witness said, “I swear I heard it laughing.”
