Paul Desmond is one of my favorite saxophonists. You may remember him for that jazz hit "take 5" (that he performed with Dave Brubeck), but I assure you he's done much, much more.

What I tried to recreate is the complete recordings box set cover.

I had to take this shot myself. It took a few tries to get it right in camera, and it's way harder when you can't actually shoot what's in front of the camera. Anyway, thanks to the trigger and timer, I was able to do this myself.

Great shot man. Love the use of your home made ring light. Also, I just read your about where it says you have a 50 1.2L. SO JEALOUS! Though I want the 85 1.2 more. I think it will be my next lens followed by a tiltshift.

@yourfavorite, yeah that 85 1.2 is awesome as well. It's a tad bigger than the 50.
Our 45mm tilt/shift arrived last night :)

aww man. The 45 t/s is the other lens on my want list. I have the 16-35 2.8L, 24-70 2.8L, 70-200 2.8L, and a 50 1.4. Now all I need is the 85 1.2 and the 45 t/s and I'll be set on lenses for just about everything I need to do.

This is really sweet. Reminds me of my first Whiskerino, when I tried to recreate Joe Henderson's compilation _The Blue Note Years_ but mine is not so great. Clame.

really well done. all my photos have been taken by myself, so i know how difficult it is to get focus, framing and composition just right. you nailed it though.

Furricane says:
@hale, yeah this one harder because I had to emulate an older shot. wasn't sure if the camera could pull it off at first.

Dschonn says:
Paul Desmond is my favorite saxophonist. I don't know that many, but the sounds he gets out of that instrument...well I can't describe it, but his sound is better (to my ears) than any other saxophonist's.

Time Out is one of my favorite albums ever.

this is insane. K+F for sure

Furricane says:
@dschonn, his timbre was warm, but not too warm, and really, REALLY clean. it is a perfectly "round" sound to my ears. so good.

Three cheers for that monster ring flash. You really did a great job of replicating the original. And kudos for doing it all solo. I'm investigating a remote trigger for Christmas, though I'm not sure how much I'd use it after Whiskerino.
