I can't express my emotions at the end of this. I have made lasting friendships and cross-country journeys that would never have been possible if not for this website and its predecessors. I thank Mackle for providing the space and everyone involved for making this the incredible, indescribable experience that it is. Thanks.
And clame for my throwdown pictures. They are rough, but they are all I have.
You have a style all your own and that is something to be proud of. You look great. Always. Thanks for posting you awesome style for the last 4 months.
you are a whiskerino classic. your presence has added so much. also, you look like you are from 1890. and i mean that as a compliment of the highest order.
You were a true artist here, I was more antics and silliness. I love what you brought each day and I have been truly amazed by you each day. Much respect for you sir and wish you all the best!
I have had a blast watching your beard grow. Thanks so much for all you've contributed to this site. I'm jealous of the amount of style you possess and can't wait to see you in Moustache May.
I'm really hoping you'll be in Moustache May again this year so that this will just be a brief parting of the ways. I'm really glad to have gotten to know you and to have grown & shown with you.
in answer to your first question, in hindsight, yes, ESPECIALLY the ziggy stardust one.
to your other question, no, not real at all.
in response to your words on valentine's day, yes, all of this is quite real.
as for my photo taken the day after, that was for you. look into it.
i also remember our conversation well. and, as far as staying in touch, lets do that. joelartz at gmail is where you will find me. you're on the right track, that's for sure. glad you are out there.
my friend. we have virtually nothing in common except a beard. I am so glad I got to spend a weekend getting to know you. You are incredibly talented. There is something great out there for you to do. I know it.
The Ozzy Nelson family loves you John.
in all your photos you look pretty serious.
But in the throwdown pics you have a different vibe all together..
I enjoyed seeing those photos because i got to see a different perspective on you.
& it was very cool & happy one you truly were beaming with pleasure, fun and good times.
I have loved all your work right through both 09' & 07'
Thankyou.
This is going to sound REALLY weird but I feel like, in some way, Whiskerino helped you flourish a little bit. You've obviously got your own thing going for you but I have a theory that Whiskerino acted as a conduit to find some confidence in your being. You are an amazing person and mindblowingly intelligent.. I often find myself jealous of the fact that you know so much about language and history and all sorts of things without even trying to stretch your brain much.
I will see you in May so I will keep this brief but you are a great dude and I am glad Whiskerino introduced us (or maybe it was MM but you get what I mean).
ps. if I haven't told you - this style of yours that is way more 40's noir detective than wilderness lotr totally works for you and I hope you continue to embrace it wholeheartedly.
Meeting you was high on my priority list at the Throwdown. You're a really amazing guy and a creative inspiration. Please keep being awesome, I'll see you in May!
Also, you always have a place to lay your head in Nashville sir, call anytime. 615.481.7508
You have the greatest style I have ever seen. Your photography and beard have always been excellent. Portland isn't too far away, so maybe I will be able to meet you. Take care, and so long.
you look like such a young man in the clame and so different now. crazy what 4 months will do to you... but hey, ive always enjoyed your photos john and i was really glad you finally got a kb. you deserved it for real. im glad we got to chat so much this time around. see you in may of course im sure.
It always great to participate in these events with you. You have such a great style that creates a unique mood in all your photos. Great to finally meet you at the TD. Hope to see you in May for the moustaches!
let me start with the fact that you are emily's favorite person ever! and i'll second that. you are a smart, funny, quick-witted interesting guy who made whiskerino and the throwdown that much more fun. keep making your own clothes. keep speaking german so you don't forget it. and keep taking awesome pictures when MM 2010 starts up.
John - I think I'm over the time limit. but its worth a try. It was awesome getting to hang with you in Nashville, I hope it happens again. I saw your pic above, and I'm 90% certain its the first time I've seen you without any facial hair. Its kind of shocking actually, but that's what happens I suppose. Hopefully you will scrape together a DTM for may! I may find myself in Portland sometime soon, and will look you up if I do. take care my friend, it was great growing and showing with you.
oh i don't know. I might have to lose it in order to keep it.?
hey i hear you, this has been surprisingly emotional for me. all you guys are the best, and I wish I could have know you all better. I'm really hoping to pop back in May.
It was a pleasure meeting you both here and in person, Dschonn. You have a unique perspective and style that brings a certain je ne sais quois to this thing. Take care.
You've been a constant force here these last couple years, and I'm sure you'll continue to be in Mays to come. I've enjoyed everything you've done and look forward to knowing you for a long time.
John, you are magical. I've never met anyone quite like you before and I am consistently impressed by your photos and personal style. Keep being awesome and find me online buddy.
it was good talking for the short while we did. i'm rooting for you and your scholarship package. hit me up anytime, especially when you're in colorado.
The babbling brook beside him gave off the strong odor of yeast and pure wilderness. He sampled the various vegetation around him, searching for the perfect ingredients for his Wipperwere stew. The deer observing from a far weren't really deer, but angry, bald, bearded dudes that could shapeshift. He was afraid but confident. He used a laser that he had been saving specifically for a time like this. Who won? The guy with the beard. That's how most of these stories end, really. Except for the stories where the bearded guy eats fast food and shaves. I don't care for those.
ah, @dschonn. an enigma wrapped in a cloak. or should I say a wolf in sheep's clothing? I kid, i kid. Sir, I wish we could have spent more time hanging with you at throwdown as well. I also enjoyed chatting with you on random nights and sincerely do hope that our paths will cross again. Until that day... stay classy!
