Really bad @tolleson

I need a super wide angle lens to show off the new office. Suffice to say, it isn't large, but so far so good. Office mate isn't in yet, the only thing on the walls so far is this weird clock my mom gave me (it's an Enter key...sort of lame...but Mawesome (mom awesome..ie sort of bad, but adorable that she tried to get me a technology related gift)). Greyish walls, brown trim, no internet yet.

Thing I'm most excited about: My tower is now housed in a locked closet on the other side of the wall from the monitors in the photo. Not sure why this gives me such nerdy excitement.

I submit that the @grapeS and the @tolleson are both harder than they appear and that grapes is using the first webcam from 1841 for his images. or greenmagenta JPEG-0 or some other such witchery.

Sometimes i forget that the first webcam was built in 1841 and sat around for nearly 150 years awaiting both the internet and the USB female port to be invented for it to be put to use.

mattyc says:
my current theory on how it was invented is not unlike the first two terminator films.

there were no webcams in 1841. i mean, c'mon. that's just ridiculous. i'm not buying it. okay, maybe there were.

I maintain @GrapeS is from the past, having traveled here t the present and has in his possession a very crude and early form of the digicam. I bet it's made of bone.

joining you in the nerding out, how long is the cable? dvi or vga?
Posted: Jan 28th, 2010 - 2:40pm -
cary norton says:
@keifel dvi on both counts. Standard length with the exception of a dvi-displayport converter on the end of the left monitor. The box is right on the other side of the wall so I didn't need an extended / repeater or anything. More nerd notes: two esata drives one of which is a 5bay raid array. Using some widescreen intuos3 Wacom and a Kensington trackball. Man do I need more ram.

man, if my tower was in a closet, I'd get a boner.

not really

Leg room is often overlooked when setting up a good work area. I'm actually a little nerd-excited your tower is in the closet as well.

Price point on Dickel White Label is around $18 for a fifth, I think. Very much worth the $. They did a blind taste test at the first store I purchased it from, and it was in everyone's top 3.

What kind of place is your office in, and do you use it for development or just the business side of things?

cary norton says:
@motke good to know. i'll have to try it out

@davidknapp highland park area.

@wondermade its just a business office...there IS a darkroom downstairs we put together though. i still develop at home for now but we'll see in the future. the building itself is an old former-school that @letranger owns and rents offices out of.

@barefoot it IS warm inside too..not just a feeling..its also 80 year old radiators.
