When I was having dinner with @ben the other night, he told me that the original beard contests that @mackle and his friends held were decided by the volume of milk the beard could hold.

I don't know if that's true or not, but mine held an 1/8th of a cup of whole milk. And yes, it's as gross as it looks.

Well, I used soy milk and I wasn't really measuring. I've yet to see if any of them turned out.

Oh man. Yes. This is a fantastic shot. I used the King and Fav options of the Whiskerino website on this shot.

Now I have to come up with something. Hm.

Now you've got me thinking about the logistics of such a judging. Just a simple pour wouldn't be good enough, I don't think. So maybe filling a large shallow bowl with a known quantity of milk, dipping in the beard and soaking it up like a sponge, and then measuring how much milk remained.

Sounds disgustingly awesome.
Posted: Feb 7th, 2010 - 10:55am -
brandon says:
@ewagoner I used a turkey baster and a measuring cup, until my beard started dripping. That's when I snapped the alt. Then I poured on more milk for this photo.

The sponge technique sounds smarter.

Should have gone with buttermilk, the beard would have trapped at least a 1/2 cup.

OMG that is hardcore - both for the rumor and for the reenactment.
