I've been collecting matchbooks, on and off, since I was about 10 years old. Some have been gifts from friends, but most are just souvenirs from the restaurants and tourist traps I've been to. I love the fact that matchbooks are collected from real places, snapshots of the past, empheral advertisements made permanent.

These are three of my favorites from my collection (all gifts): one from the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX; one from inside a 1970s-circa Playboy Club; and one from inside Airforce One.

Blurry in the background is me and a large pile of the rest of my collection.

Oh that's fantastic. I used to have a collection of matchbooks in highschool. Then I moved and a lot of them went by the wayside

@OGManlyBeard @growershower It was given to me by my best friend from his grandpa's collection. It's from the 60s or 70s, back when smoking on planes was a lot more common.

@kms I never thought of it that way. :) I imagine they smoked a lot in Houston during the Apollo 13 mission.

That's great. I used to have so many different matchbooks. I never intended to collect them, but I just kept ending up with more and more. I have no idea where they are now.
