Few people see this tattoo, mostly because my watch band covers it most of the time. I had it done shortly before I traveled to Russia, almost 7 years ago. The artist was an apprentice at the time, and probably pressed down a bit harder than necessary causing some scarring. It's faded and needs a touch-up.

Eirene is the Koine (New Testament) Greek word for "harmony." It's actually translated "peace" in most places. In first century Greek culture, the idea of peace was not a passive concept or an absence of conflict. Peace was an active process; something you worked at.

I got this because peace & harmony were things I lacked at the time, in relationships and in my own life. I wanted to have a permanent reminder it's something that needs to be worked at to achieve and maintain.

A great tattoo and great story. I also have a heavy handed tattoo that caused a little scarring.

Also, is this a closeup of "The Scratch"

I like the concept of hidden tatoo's or tattoos that aren't visible easily...and I Like the story of your tattoo and what it means.

i think some of the best tattoos carry a good story with them, even if they aren't technically perfect pieces.

This reminds me of that time Lily wanted to get together with Rufus, but Serena told her not to because she was in love with Dan.

Honestly I think that the fact it's not perfect" makes it that much more meaningful. More personal and rugged. Very nice.

i took three semesters of greek in college, two classical and one koine. early on, i learned πάσχω and used that as my go-to answer for situations when i didn't know the answer (which were frequent.)
