growing up with the beaches in destin, fl always makes me wonder about what's in sand that isn't white. i guess it's mostly crushed up shell or something? seems like there are fully black beaches, too, maybe in Australia? is that sand soft?

your jacket is too slick for a hippie beach party, but your beard overrules it.

@jason 1977.

@hale you know, when we were walking in the sand, I thought that I didn't really fit in for that reason, but I've got a rad beard so whatever.

@smurf two and a half. By the third time we didn't care anymore.

@mackle no, not the flaming lips. Edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros actually.

@folliclejuju On the Big Island, we have normal brownish-white beaches, pure white beaches, black sand beaches, and, yes, even green sand beaches. Come. See. Explore.

folliclejuju says:
@justjamey, i've not yet met a beach with sand as soft as the destin beaches. are the black ones soft? i guess it's the volcanic ash or lava that makes them black?

Just Jamey says:
@folliclejuju In my experience, black sand is more coarse, but is friggin awesome anyway.
