Day 2: The Informal/Formal Look

ive discovered recently that this is the look that i get most complimented on in public, that being when i mix and match formal pieces with informal pieces. here i combined two parts that most people should have in their closet, the regular old hoodie with a fitted black blazer. in this case, rather than looking like i dont know how to dress formally, i think people have a tendency to think that i am trying to gussy up what would have been a typical look by throwing in a formal looking jacket. a black blazer can go with anything of course, and you can mix your hoodies up underneath. wear a bright color like red and it will really pop. finish things up with a dark colored jean to make you look like you stepped right off the catwalk.

Olive Hooded Sweatshirt: $20 from H&M
Black Fitted Blazer: $5 from a thrift store
Diesel Shazor Jeans: Free found in some street alley
Aviator Sunglasses: $5 from H&M

Ace says:
@jason i understand what you mean. i do also to a point, but i believe that i will wear one tomorrow to show how to wear one without having to look like too much of a tool, hence the crew today. thanks for noticing though. ;) haha...

jason says:
white basic v is a staple in my wardrobe! son constriction and it shows off just a touch of chest hair ;p

Ace says:
@jason oh yeah, i just looked through your archive and you wear the vneck well, but not everyone can do that, you know what i mean? some people just look awkward. tomorrow i think ill get a look that most can pull off with a vneck. well hopefully anyways.

i love the settings you are choosing to shot these in, they have an authentic "style guide" feel to them. i'm thinking GQ again.

Were the jeans also filled with money or drugs? That would be awesome.

zackle says:
Three things...

1) You're really making me miss living next to a mall with an H&M in it (hours away now)

2) Who leaves Diesel jeans to rot in an alley? Seriously.

3) Great theme week.

I actually walk on the catwalk often.

Ace says:
@yogibeard no unfortunately. although they did kinda smell funny.

@wondermade you would. and i believe it!

1) the closest H&M to me is 4 hours, so i know how you feel. but its one of the few clothing brands ive found that doesnt think that the size small means you have incredibly short arms. and i am very grateful for that.

2) i was thinking the same thing, that why i took them. i originally thought to sell them on ebay, but then i discovered they were my size and kept them instead.

So funny. This should be in some men's magazine.

zackle says:
Yeah, I really don't understand why H&M still doesn't have an online store for us US folks yet. Bummer. Their stretchy long sleeve tees are the bestest thing ever.

This is badass. Once I lose my 20 pounds, you need to come to Atlanta and outfit me in a new wardrobe.

mackle says:
another great entry but i would be remiss if I didn't comment on this:

"regular old hoodie"

The 'regular' hoodie usually has a zipper and seperates into two halves.. what you've got there is a fancy pants pullover with buttons! Extra style points! Don't sell yourself short.
Posted: Jan 12th, 2010 - 9:15pm -
Barefoot says:
yeah. Don't sell yourself short.
Posted: Jan 12th, 2010 - 11:21pm -
Barefoot says:
those glasses kind of complete the outfit.

Dschonn says:
I can see you wanting longer sleeves. Even these are a little shorter on you than ideal. I'm sure I'd be showing wrist bones in that jacket, though. I lean slightly toward the proportions of an ape.

Ace says:
@dschonn me too! its ridiculous how neanderthalish i feel at times when i cant find a shirt with sleeves that fit, which is often i might add.
