First off, this photo was taken by the manager of the Publications department at my company [which I won't name, but if you follow my URL, well, it's not hard to figure out where I work]. That said, if this really did get King Beard, I think I owe Johnny a beer. [In a fun turn of events, he was growing a beard when I saw him yesterday. I thought about giving him a solid fist bump for it.]

And yes, the background is kinda terrible---I was laughing to myself when I walked into the room. I mean, it's terribly awesome. Yeah, I was thinking Olan Mills myself.

Let me address a few specific questions: wonder made, yes, I'll be in the VIP area for the launch. And getting fed and shown all around KSC all week. But I'm also working some next week, because I'm the kind of fucking idiot who says, "No, don't give me an award ... I have shit to do, people." Heck, I was telling the AA for the VP I work for about this yesterday, and she threw me out of her office. Honestly, I don't have the time to be away right now, but hell, I'm going.

[And before anyone asks: no, this isn't a Silver Snoopy. That said, my boss is getting a Silver Snoopy---he really deserves it---first thing in the morning. I've known for months, and I'm tickled.]

S.P. Dinsmoor: Absolutely. I want a photo of me with the neckbeard at the VAB, and one of me with the Shuttle on the pad. Is it sad that the second thing I thought about the award was, "Damn, this is going to make for some great photo opportunities for Whiskerino!"

And I'm surprised that people are wanting this to be KB. Dammit, I peaked too early.
