Poe said on Feb 28 @ 12:32pm did you grab an extra DVD by any chance? can't find mine.
Scrivener said on Feb 28 @ 12:38pm My youngest daughter stayed home sick from school today. She spent the whole morning insisting that I never went more than three feet from her side, as she's feverish and unhappy.

But then she finally went to sleep and I shaved. It was actually really difficult to bring myself to shave the beard off, but I did want there to be a definite break--so the four months of the Whiskerino will be self-contained and distinct. Also, it just won't be the same having a beard without you guys to share it with.

But just as I finished shaving, Chloe woke up and she took one look at me and started crying. "Where's your beard?" she asked. I told her I had shaved it off and she just looked at me confused and said, "Put it back on!" When I told her I couldn't she got really upset and said "When mommy comes home she's going to be mad and make you put your beard back on." She kept looking at my face and crying, until she decided that my sideburns were still a little bit of beard, so it was ok. Now she just keeps looking at my face and laughing and telling me "You look funny without a beard, daddy."

Mackle said on Feb 28 @ 12:40pm Scrivener, it was a pleasure to meet you and I am happy to know that we will meet again someday.
ryanhale said on Feb 28 @ 12:42pm wait a minute.... you still have a beard, so what are those large hairy balls of fur from? no, don't tell me.

also, i know you're vertically challenged, but you should look into getting a step stool for that counter. hobbit.

david, i said it before and will say it again, you were a highlight of the throwdown for me.
ByronRaphael said on Feb 28 @ 12:43pm It was great to meet you. I'll miss your lengthy, but always interesting comments.
Scrivener said on Feb 28 @ 12:47pm Poe I'm pretty sure I did not get an extra, but I will check.

Mackle and Damnweather: Thanks, guys! I might be in mustache may, and I will certainly be checking in.

Ryan: I trimmed the beard down quite a bit first. Then I shaved for real--and I took more than 100 pictures as I shaved, so there'll be a big ole Flickr set as soon as I can get them up. And I was on my knees for that pic. You just have no sense of framing a shot, do you? Hanging out with you and your very cool wife was a big highlight of the trip for me too.
Justie Just said on Feb 28 @ 1:09pm Scrivener...David... is #1 of my Top 5 New Friends of 2006. Everyone be sure to check in on his blog on occasion. When he's not doting on his beautiful kids soemtimes he writes something clever.

And in case you were wondering.. Ryan Hale ranked 0.

Justie Just said on Feb 28 @ 2:36pm The aveeno shaving cream doesn't surprise me one bit, by the way.
Scrivener said on Feb 28 @ 3:06pm Clame for the shaving set. I don't know how to make an animated set like the fantastic one BenfRank put up on his page, so you'll just have to go view the Flickr slideshow.
Scrivener said on Feb 28 @ 3:10pm What's wrong with Aveeno shaving cream Justie? It smells like vanilla.

Beard Prev

I had never really grown a beard before this contest, and I discovered over the four months that it wasn't really about growing a beard at all. I've never been around a group of guys who were so creative, cool, supportive, smart, and just all around fun to be with. Thank you all for this fantastic experience.
